Within this program, students engage in recreational skills development through cooking classes, art classes, music classes, and gardening classes, among other activities with specialized teachers for each activity. Classes are conducted in a group format and are supervised by a therapist who facilitates learning. Teachers for the classes are contracted from outside PlaySchool, with the goal of teaching being natural.
The students also go out once a week to engage in different activities such as riding, climbing, hiking, among other activities, with the purpose of being involved in the community around them.
Recreational program hours are 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Classes are designed for students aged 12 to 21. Each group is selected based on the students' age, assessment, and skills. This is to ensure that all students in the group are able to be included and successful.
